Definition of Agreement

Short for Story Agreement. The Story's Agreement on Done is between the Product Owner and the rest of the Team, and it defines when that Story will be complete. The Agreement consists of the Acceptance Criteria, the Standard of Care, and possibly additional General Agreements. This notion can be extended to Capabilities, Sprints, Releases, and so on… (synonym for Definition of Done, Doneness Agreement, "Done")

The purpose of a Scrum Team is to produce Results that satisfy Stakeholders’ desires, needs, and wants. These Results are built incrementally, with each piece being pulled from the Team by its Agreement on what Done means, rather than being pushed out by the Process.
Without a good Agreement on Done the Team may founder and either do too much or too little on any given Story.
