Definition of Release Sprint

A specialized Sprint whose purpose is to Release Deliverable Results; it contains Stories specific to Release Activities and finishing UnDone Work.  A Release Sprint usually contains no additional development.

Examples

For most Teams, however, not every Sprint is a potential Release Sprint – the purpose of most Sprints is to gather meaningful feedback about what the Stakeholders want in order to progress towards a Release in the future.

The Release Sprint is when the Team does the last bit of work before the Release.

At our company we have a specialized Sprint whose purpose is to Release Product; it contains Stories specific to Release Activities and finishing Undone Work. Our Release Sprint usually contains no additional new feature development.
